After a brisk swim in Barton Springs my first stop was at the Texas Capital.  Most events held there are sometimes a little late getting started so I figured to take a short break on the quite side of the Capital before heading to the south side for the military ceremonies. I should have known better.  If there is any group that always starts on time it's the military and this morning's ceremony  was no exception. All the Texas National guard stationed at Austin's Camp Mabry stood on the south steps of the capital as the commanding generals ushered out the current Commander  and installed  the new Camp Mabry commanding General.
One of UT's box offices is only a couple hundred yards from the Capital so I walked to the box office to by some UT volleyball tickets.  Not only was the box office closed but two other box offices on the campus  I tried were also closed.  Come to find out, all UT box offices are closed on the weekend so I never got the tickets I wanted. Spent the lunch hour in the longhorn student union dinning hall and killed some time there watching TV before heading to an Ice Cream  eating contest. The temp today was 102 with a heat index of 108.  I love ice cream but would you believe I was too hot to enjoy any of the treat.  I really enjoyed the ice cream contest but the hot weather took every last bit of energy I had so I canceled tonights accordion concert in North Austin and the Longhorn vs LSU soccer match.  Both events were to be held outside and I just could not take any more heat.
