Saturday morning there was big race next door in Pace Bend Park. The Capital Open Water Swim Tournament started with a 750 meter swim in Lake Travis. Over the next several weeks other open water swims will take in Lady Bird Lake and Lake Georgetown. This morning I was on the starting line of the Marble Falls Triathlon by 6:30 AM and watched the sun rise over the Hwy 281 bridge. The race contestants jumped into Lake Marble Falls at 7 AM. After their swim they rode 23 miles on bikes and then ran 4.4 mile to the finish line. Another drowning in the area this weekend! A 49 year old male visiting from out of town drown in the Pedernales River only half a mile from my house. He was using a rope swing and his second swing into the river was fatal. Athorities recovered the body around 9:30 Sunday morning.
